The complete energy chains from resource to energy services have to be considered when designing bioenergy strategies to maximize climate change mitigation and security of energy supply. The research education of the successful candidate is to combine the analyses of energy systems and biological systems to optimize the complete bioenergy chain considering primary energy use and GHG emissions.

Basic eligibility conditions:
• Completed masters-degree level forestry/civil or environmental engineering/ energy system studies program
• Or passed equivalent courses corresponding to 240 points (4 years) of which at least 60 points (1 year) are at advanced level.
• or in some other way acquired the corresponding level of knowledge
Good knowledge of English in speaking and writing is essential. In weighing of the bases of assessment, special emphasis is put on the applicants ability to benefit from post-graduate studies.
Basic requirements for post-graduate studies are laid out in the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance (Högskoleförordningen), Chapter 7.
The PhD studies are limited to 4 years (100%) but may be extended to 5 years through teaching and other duties. The starting date for the PhD education will be as soon as possible. The position is located in Växjö.
