The School of Life Sciences is looking for a
PhD Student in Biomedicine

A PhD position is available to study genetic alterations associated with clinico-pathological factors in human colorectal cancer at the School of Life Sciences-Biomedicine, University of Skövde, in collaboration with the Department of Oncology, Linköping University, Sweden.
The person we are looking for should have a Master Degree in the fields of biomedicine or medicine. The position will be attached to the research team working on colorectal cancer-related projects at University of Skövde and Linköping University. The projects are based on a model system of cultivated colorectal cancer cells and morphological study of tumor specimens from colorectal cancer patients. The goal is to identify specific expression patterns and interactions of the genes and proteins that are affected by aberrations at the genomic level in colorectal cancer.
The potential applicants should be familiar with various molecular techniques for DNA, RNA and protein analysis. Since large amounts of data will be generated within the projects, the candidates should be familiar with computer science, statistics and bioinformatics. Experience in experimental design, experimental performance, data analysis, and writing and presentation of scientific report is also merited. Familiarity with English both written and spoken is required.
Work assignments consist to 80 % of PhD studies and to 20 % of departmental work at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Skövde. Salary according to existing agreement. The employment is time-limited to a maximum of five years and comprises 100 %.
