Following the recent acquisition of Kite Pharma by Gilead Sciences we are excited to prepare to bring Kite's innovative oncology therapies to the Nordics. Your new role
Reporting to the Nordic Medical Director, the Medical Affairs Cell Therapy Area Lead will play a key role and the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and building the Cell Therapy Area team within the Medical Affairs function in the Nordics. In addition and in close collaboration with the Medical Affairs, Head of Europe, the person in this role will be responsible for the creation of the Nordic Medical Affairs Cell Therapy strategy and execution of a full Medical operational plan.
As such, this person will be a key member of the Nordic affiliate and will have an excellent growth opportunity over the next 2-3 years and beyond as the company grows. This person will provide medical expertise, market access focus, and insights to both the Nordic affiliate and the European Headquarter and will have to develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities (include But Are Not Limited To)
* The Medical Affairs Cell Therapy Area Lead will oversee all Medical Affairs activities in the Nordics related to Cell Therapies (CAR-T and TCR)
* Develops the Nordic Medical Affairs plan of action for all Nordic countries, and ensures the national implementation for the specific area of Cell Therapies
* Manage and develop the Medical Affairs staff in the cell therapy team which currently include one Medical Manager in Sweden/Finland
* The Medical Affairs Cell Therapy Area Lead will also support in the field with execution of the Medical Affairs plan in Denmark/Norway.
* Ensures cross-functional collaboration of Medical Affairs with all relevant functions in the Nordics and with international/global team (Market Access, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Public Affairs and Governmental Affairs).
* Regular communication with external medical community to remain abreast of issues in the field and to provide medical support and direction to them.
* Participate in major national and international meetings, congresses and symposia
* Ability to travel, occasionally with short notice
What you'll need to succeed
* Advanced medical/scientific degree (MD or equivalent degree, PhD) with experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related healthcare field required
* Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry within medical affairs with expertise in immunology/hematology/oncology
* Proven successful management experience
* Proven track record of executing a medical affairs plan to support an innovative new product launch
* Experience working in one of the Nordic countries and preferably with experience working across the Nordics.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Fluency in English and one of the Scandinavian languages is essential
* Proven ability to work across a cross-functional matrix
* Self-starter with "can do" attitude
* Basic knowledge of budget and account management
