Come and join us at Volvo Buses - we are now hiring a New Technologies Manager for the Global Purchasing Department, located at our offices in Gothenburg, Sweden.
As part of our Global Purchasing Department, you will be working with a global team of Buyers, Project Managers and functional Managers, located in Sweden, Canada and Mexico.
Together with us you will directly contribute to the creation of best-in-class transportation solutions and help generate the best possible result for the team, the company and our society.

Your role
The main purpose of the role is to, together with other functions, identify and evaluate new areas for innovation satisfying our customers' existing and future needs. Moreover, the role will support building a stronger and deeper degree of purchasing involvement in the product planning and product development process. The end goal is to identify and explore new areas of innovation and to secure GBP's contribution towards Volvo Buses' strategic priorities. You will work in close collaboration with our Product development, Product planning as well as with our Buyer teams.
Main activities and responsibilities
As the New Technologies Manager you will secure purchasing contribution to product roadmaps. Moreover you will continuously scout the market for new innovations addressing existing and future customer needs. The New Technologies Manager will be an active member of the Chassis Platform and Sourcing department. In this role, your main activities will be:
Contribute to product roadmaps and relevant product planning activities
Become the purchasing interface towards engineering in innovation and early phases
Establish relevant purchasing processes for early phases
Scout areas for new technologies, applying a full product life-cycle perspective, and communicate to the wider purchasing organisation
Investigate opportunities for Partnership s where beneficial
Benchmark how other Volvo business areas (BAs) are working with innovation
Perform market and competitor analysis on key systems and components
To be successful in this position we think you have most of the following attributes and/or you have good basis to further develop them.
Ability to understand what creates value for our customers and to utilize this knowledge to influence our products and services, the customer features and purchasing strategies
Entrepreneurial mindset where you explore, engage and contribute to development in early phases in order to create customer value

Open to exploring disruptive coming technologies
Establish and maintain effective suppliers/customers relationships and gains their trust and respect to capture innovations
Promote Volvo Group to business partners for mutual business opportunities
Work efficiently in a cross-functional project team set-up
Get things done both through formal channels and informal networks
Build and deliver clear and structured communication adapted to targeted audiences
For this position we are looking for candidates with a university degree in Business and/or Engineering and a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in strategic purchasing and/or sales. Experience on both areas would be an advantage. Prior experience working with product development or innovations would be also beneficial.
