This role is a part of the Mechanical Design team working on New Product Introductions (NPI's) and supporting the organization in Product Care- and Product Vitality related projects. Our instruments contain electromechanical modules, high voltage, radio frequency and vacuum.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Engineering department at GEMS PET Systems consists of several teams: Advanced Cyclotron Technology, Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, Software development, Technical Publications and Project Execution. The department is responsible for Cyclotron and TRACERcenter related projects like;feasibility studies, New Product Introductions (NPI's) and to support the organization in Product Care- and Product Vitality related projects. Our instruments contain electromechanical modules, high voltage, radio frequency and vacuum. All combined to produce radioactive isotopes. These isotopes are used as radioactive markers when performing PET/CT scanning of patients in eg. cancer diagnostics.
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to the Mechanical Design team. You will be part of a team, driving new innovations and design ideas to products. In some projects you will share the Mechanical Design responsibilities and in other projects you will be the only Mechanical Design Engineer. In your role you will meet many inspiring people and technical challenges.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Be part and lead the development of complex mechanical and electromechanical components/subsystems and purchased assemblies for meeting system level design specifications. You will detail requirements, develop components and modules,document the design and transfer it to manufacturing.
• Work directly with different business functions and with close supplier engagement to meet serviceability, functional- and manufacturability requirements and to facilitate a smooth production transfer.
• Coordinate procurement of prototype material as well as oversee the prototype build and verification of the design.
• Create excellent designs that will be easy and robust to manufacture, are cost-effective and at the same time fulfill the need from our customers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar experience.
• Knowledge in the design of precision mechanical devices using 2D and 3D cad tools. We use PTC's Creo Design Tools.
• Knowledge of designing in a variety of manufacturing processes like machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding etc.
• Previous work experience demonstrating applied engineering knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to meet time commitments.
• Curious and innovative.
• Excellent in personal planning.
• Fluent in English and Swedish (both spoken and written).
• EU work permit.
Desired Characteristics:
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience from the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience from developing mechatronics and moving fine mechanical parts.
• Experience and knowledge of Cyclotrons or other equipment producing radioactive isotopes.
• Knowledge of MD/EMC/LVD/ UL/IEC WEEE/RoHS regulations/standards and how they apply to designs.
