hela Sverige Sandvik Mining and Construction (SMC) is strengthening its research efforts. We are establishing new Competence Center Research in Sandviken to improve our competence in rock breaking and rock modelling. The center will be a new part of our R&D/E organization.
If you are looking for a position in which you can develop the new research organization and our global research network, this is the opportunity for you. To ramp up this Competence Center, SMC Global R&D is looking for a highly qualified professional with a research background. As a research manager, you will be responsible for the research plan and budget of the Competence Center, and the competence development in the research area. You will be working closely with SMC R&D/E teams, SMC R&D Council, and you will report to process owner competence development in SMC Global R&D.
Key performance areas
Your main challenges will be to analyze the needs of technology development in the Product Development Centers (PDC), formulate these as a research problem and find the best partners working together with us to solve these problems. Research results will utilized with application research teams in the PDC’s or, e.g., as a proposal for a new business opportunity.
The second important challenge is to ensure our competence development for the future strategic areas. You will familiarize yourself with the SMC long-term offering plan and make sure it is reflected in our research competence.
You will need to ensure a high level of communication and cooperation between different R&D teams to win the trust in building the new organization.
Your profile
You should have a Doctor of Philosophy degree or master level together with relevant work experience in research and product development. To succeed in this position, you will need to have highly developed collaboration skills to build partnerships, good leadership skills and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Due to the global nature of the position, fluency in English and willingness to travel are needed. Experience and enjoyment of working in different cultures will also help in this position.
