We are looking to strengthen our CTO organisation with a Strategy, Search & Evaluation Manager. The role will be part of a global Strategy, Search & Evaluation (SSE) at Life Sciences towards innovation management and part of a multi-site, multi-disciplinary team to enhance top line revenue growth and profitability for GE Healthcare Life Sciences.

This position will perform global market segment analysis, gap analysis relative to the business unit portfolio, and define strategic and tactical steps to best position the company for accelerated growth.

The individual will also formulate and execute external opportunity sourcing and assessment strategies within the given geographic region, leading all phases of the transaction process including analysis of inorganic strategy and markets, target identification and screening, structuring, valuation, due diligence, negotiation and closing.

The individual will work with colleagues in the Strategy, Search & Evaluation (SSE) team reporting to the Global Head SSE, will work closely with the CTO Leadership (CTO LS) Team, all the R&D functions within GE Life Sciences, the GE Global Research Centre, GE Ventures and GE Business Development teams to create a common vision and roadmap for the company in areas of strategic growth for GE Life Sciences.

The primary focus will be on strategy development, "sensing" future scientific / technological breakthroughs, developing a partner ecosystem for the business, securing the right external alliances with industry and academic partners and developing the appropriate business models for GE to become a leader in the innovation ecosystem for GE Life Sciences.

The SSE team will be a centralised hub for identifying, assessing and incubating breakthrough technologies for all business units within GE Life Sciences. The team provides direct value to GE Life Sciences through accessing new assets and platform technologies, with the objective to be a force multiplier for the organisation.

Perform in-depth market research and competitive analysis to enable a long-term vision and road map for the company
Develop strategic insights that enable GE to capture new growth opportunities
Drive thought-leadership and provide program recommendations, presenting ideas and project opportunities to senior management, serving as a recognized expert and resource leader
Primary scientific contact and spokesperson for GE Life Sciences within the given geographic region
Work with leadership to manage communication and alignment with key internal stakeholders to support effective decision making and transaction approval processes
Assess potential licensing, acquisition, collaborations, co-development agreements, and strategic alliances in relevant opportunity space and specific geography
Develop financial model, and create effective presentations on acquisition opportunities for senior management review and approval
Provide thorough and timely assessments and updates to appropriate management levels to ensure efficient communication and seamless cross functional collaboration
Make presentations on behalf of GE at industry networking events, scientific conferences and other venues
Responsible for the quality of the formal due diligence output, integrating internal and external subject matter experts for senior management review and approval
Assist in the coordination and prioritization of the portfolio of search & evaluation projects. Helps to ensure the success of the overall portfolio

Qualifications/Requirements:
• High academic achievements, preferable in a Scientific, Clinical or technical background (PhD, MD or MPH Degree), with evidence of consistently translating academic knowledge to commercial reality

• Substantial experience in commercialization of technology or start-up portfolio management

• Experience in business development, alliance management and business partnerships

• Ability to synthesize multiple data points to create strategic viewpoints. Experience performing market analysis and competitive landscaping

• Regular travel required as part of this role, both regionally and internationally

• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and creative problem-solver

• Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail

• Experience of building relationships and influencing stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, industries, cultures and professions

• Outstanding presentation and communication skills, both written and oral

Desired Characteristics:
• Thorough understanding of one or more of the existing business units at GE Life Sciences, such as BioProcess, Core Imaging, Cell Therapy and Genomic & Cellular Research

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Skype-for-Business and familiarity with mobile communication technologies, such as remote data access, cloud-based data sharing, mobile video/audioconferencing
