Digital Machining is a new department, created in line with Industry 4.0 to handle development of concepts, products and software through new applications and algorithms; connecting us and our customers closer to machine. We are exploring new market opportunities, define, develop and deliver digital solutions in the machining area. We develop new offers and services using data from various assets (machines or tools) and processes, developing descriptive, adaptive and autonomous solutions. Our aim is to grow our business within the Digital Machining area, securing growth and a leading market position through establishing strategic partnerships and developing digital solutions, standards and intelligent machining technologies.
It is imperative that every player within the value chain drives digitalization and Sandvik Coromant is in the forefront of this journey. Within Sandvik Coromant, the Digital Machining (DM) organization drives the digital offers for our customers, delivering insights-driven business value. We are now looking for a motivated and self-driven techno-digital professional, to lead Research and Development (R&D) for our Digital offers.
As a Manager in our Digital Machining department, you report directly to the Head of Digital Machining, and your location is flexible between Sandviken or Västberga, Stockholm.
Key performance areas
As Manager for the Digital Machining R&D department, your responsibilities include:
• Owning and driving all embedded and software product development project activities, in accordance with the business roadmaps and R&D processes across all R&D centers
• Owning and driving all digital innovation initiatives
• As a management member within DM, support all other DM level organizational activities
• Establishing the ways of working, such as through intensive and continuous information flow as well as knowledge and best practice sharing between different R&D centers
• Managing collaboration between the different R&D centers, as well as externally with other DM departments, Sandvik Coromant departments and other Product Areas (PAs) within Sandvik
• Owning resource and skill availability for all DM initiatives as per plan
• Safeguarding that project goals and time targets are met
• Driving continuous innovation within the R&D team
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a relevant degree within Engineering and experience of software and/or embedded systems. You have proven experience in managing people and distributed teams; as well as managing multiple work tasks or projects. To succeed in this position, you have strong project management experience and a good understanding of technology areas, such as Internet of Things, Industrial Automation, Electronics Design, embedded/firmware development, application software development using Microsoft technologies and Real-time systems. Knowledge and experience in managing internal and external customer relationships, and working in a cross-functional, multi-cultural and international environment is also needed to be successful. As we act on a global stage, you need excellent skills in English, both verbally and written, while additional language skills are beneficial.
