Lead Vehicle Architect - Special Vehicles Development
Job Summary
As a Lead Vehicle Architect you are a key player to support building the Special Vehicle Development department in Gothenburg and to lead the development work to a complete truck solution. Your capacity to lead, accurately predict and consolidate all engineering aspects for the complete truck solutions is paramount for a profitable total business offer as well as to execute and secure the design and validation plans on time. Your work will serve as an important input to the decision making process and to secure a successful delivery.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Lead and consolidate, in close conjunction with all other line organizations including Volvo Trucks sales and manufacturing, all aspects of the technical scope for the complete vehicle to be developed in order to secure a successful project delivery
• Consolidate all engineering resources including engineering partners related to the complete product to be developed (Cab/Chassis/Electrical/etc.) into a full engineering proposal
• Drive and arbitrate the technical dialogue with Engineering and Manufacturing for the technical area to define most optimized technical solution to meet customer needs
• Work in close connection to the Chief Project Manager, applying global and lean processes to secure reduced time to market and development cost
• Develop and share acquired competence and provide technical advice
• Drive continuous improvement activities to find efficiency gains for reduced time to market and lower cost in product development
• Participate in business development and innovation
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
For success in this role we expect you to have a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and work experience in the relevant field for a minimum of 10 years. You have demonstrated successful experience in product development, specifically as Vehicle Architect, or a strong knowledge of design and mechanical packaging for cab-over-engine trucks. In this position you need to be proficient with Pro/E and Catia and have excellent understanding of Product Data Management systems when defining the product offering. As you have been working with heavy duty trucks for many years we expect you to have good knowledge in vehicle regulations and the truck industry in general. Experience in special vehicles, customer adaptation and/or electromobility development projects is considered as a plus.
