As a Global Commodity Buyer you will be responsible for your own commodities and suppliers in an international business environment. This position is mainly strategic and partially operational. Your daily job will consist of setting supplier strategies, negotiating commercial and legal agreements, evaluating and selecting suppliers. You will manage the commercial interface with your suppliers. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong desire to fulfill customer requirements while maintaining a process oriented mindset.
Nature & Scope:
Develop sourcing strategies for regional and global sub-commodities
Drive the Volvo Purchasing process for supplier evaluation, selection, and monitoring for select commodities
Lead and mentor the (Plant) Buyers in sourcing strategy deployment for the selected commodity
Continuously improve the supply chain and build relationships with preferred/key suppliers
Initiate RFQ?s, analyze and negotiate prices and award and administer contracts with suppliers
Take ownership to reduce and optimize the supplier base
Lead commercial negotiations (regional and/or global) including implementation of full agreement packages
Secure cross-functional cooperation between purchasing and all internal stakeholders
Actively support continuous improvement efforts within the organization
Perform the duties of a regional and/or global Supplier Host within the Volvo Group
Achieve financial and operational KPI?s and recommend business and process improvements to suppliers
Use standard purchasing tools to analyze key supplier proposals and build business cases for cost reductions
Work closely with Commodity Directors and global teams to reach team and individual goals
Respect Volvo policies/procedures and exemplify all Core Values (Quality, Safety and Environmental Care)
Some travel (international and domestic) required, up to 20%
Other duties as assigned by the Commodity Director

Education/Professional Qualifications:
• 4 year college degree (BA, BS) or equivalent practical experience
• 3 to 4 years experience within Purchasing & Supply Management, ideally in the construction equipment industry
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships in a multicultural environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from conception to completion
• Proven problem solving abilities including root cause analysis
• Extensive knowledge of the supply management industry, currencies and commodity markets
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Strong team spirit
• Must be able to represent Volvo professionally and effectively in all dealings with suppliersEnergetic and entrepreneurial personality, with a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications
