Job assignments
The Institute of Biomedicine, Dept. of Pathology and Genetics is seeking a researcher to the cancer genomics group at the Sahlgrenska Cancer Center (SCC). SCC is a translational cancer center consisting of 19 research groups at the Sahlgrenska Academy and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The cancer genomics group, whish is headed by professor Göran Stenman, focuses on identification and characterization of fusion oncogenes and other oncogenic driver mutations/genomic rearrangements and how these can be used as diagnostic biomarkers and targets for new cancer therapy. The work includes cell culturing and different cell based in vitro assays, isolation of DNA/RNA/ protein, gene expression analyses (incl. qPCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry), RNAi, gene cloning, nucleotide sequence analysis, and work with mouse xenograft models (transplantation of tumor cells/tumors and drug treatment).
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a MSc in chemistry or equivalent and a PhD in medicine in a research area relevant to the specific position stated here. You should also have solid theoretical and practical knowledge about cell culturing and cell based assays, and the molecular methods stated above. Practical experience from work with mouse xenograft models and fusion oncogenes is a strong advantage.
Previous postdoc experience and scientific publications within the research area (see above) and established collaborations between preclinical and clinical researcher at the Sahlgrenska Academy is also a merit.
The applicant should have documented ability to independently conduct research but also to collaborate in a team and should master both Swedish and English in speech and writing. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Employment
The employmnent is limited (temporary) full time 100% for 12 months with placement at the Institute of biomedicin. First day of employment as agreed.
