Flow Simulation Engineer - Manufacturing

At VOLVO CARS MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING you are part of a global production team that makes sure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers. In close collaboration with colleagues in other business units, we develop and implement flexible and efficient production systems with people in focus. As FLOW SIMULATION ENGINEER within the group Resident Manufacturing Engineering (RME) you are responsible for flow simulation assignments with a main focus on our existing production systems in Torslanda. You will also have the possibility to work with future production processes and setup. You will actively participate in generating and investigating improvement proposals for the optimisation of our production in a cross functional role. You will have knowledge exchange with our flow simulation engineers for our production plants in Gent and Skövde.

Job profile:

• Perform analyses and flow simulation assignments for existing production systems, future processes, acquisition of equipments, non machine intensive complex flows and rebuilding projects etc
• Actively participate in generating and investigating improvement proposals for the optimisation of the availability and capacity of the plant and the production resources towards the expected impact
• Map, analyse and propose actions to eliminate bottlenecks and other restrictions in the processes
• Analyse the existing and planned process layout in close cooperation with Volvo Cars Manufacturing and our Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) engineers
• Collect and structure basis data related to steering- and working principles and availability of the production resources
• Secure that existing models are a reliable representation of the production process and that the required adaptations are carried out in the production
• Conduct studies related to the material and body flow through the production process and develop new or adapt existing flow simulation-models
• Provide input and actively participate towards the standardisation of flow analysis in a close cooperation within this field of engineering in VCC

Your profile:

• University studies within the field of industrial engineering
• Competence and experience in flow simulation
• Good competence in Microsoft Excel and Access
• Competence in Microsoft Visio
• Analytical mindset
• Communicative
• Good communication skills in English, both spoken and in writing
• Competence in Enterprise Dynamics (ED) or Plant Simulation is meritorious
• Competence in statistics is meritorious
