Picsearch are looking for a Flex expert with an emphasis on ActionScript development skills rather than Flash authoring to maintain and coordinate extensions and customizations to our video player code base with support from other Flex and Flash developers. Development experience beyond Actionscript alone is important to provide a broad background of best software practices and enable development work in other languages. Graphical skills are not necessary since designs can either be supplied or handled separately.
Required skills and knowledge:
• Actionscript 3 experience
• Flex experience
• Experience with programming languages other than ActionScript
• Strong written and spoken English
Preferred skills and knowledge:
• Flash CS3/CS4 experience
• C++ and Python experience
• Academic background in computer science
• Experience with version control systems (Subversion, CVS, others)
• Experience working in a command-line driven Unix environment
• Experience developing isolated components of larger projects
• Proven track record of relevant work
• Practical use of Scrum / Agile or similar development methodologies
• Experience integrating with external API services
Suitable candidates will have significant experience with ActionScript, be up-to-date with respect to ActionScript 3, and have experience with developing non-trivial Flex applications from scratch. The ideal candidate knows how to create well-designed APIs and critique existing APIs with respect to issues like maintainability, correctness and extensibility. Proven experience developing quality code with other team members in long term projects is important. Understanding of object-oriented principles is a must.
You must be comfortable with source code oriented development; development work will be happening in an open development model with version controlled source files. Professionally you are comfortable delivering to deadlines by managing your own time and priorities well, you can handle stress and are both productive and responsible. You contribute well in teams with clear communication and a positive approach to problem solving.
