The group, which needs to be reinforced with a new engineer member, is responsible for the operation and development of the testing facilities that are used for validating the latest designs for components installed on the Siemens gas turbine products. The group is in charge of developing test procedures, tools and utilities in order to validate the newly designed components. The main technical areas associated to the component validation are: fluid dynamics, heat transfer and combustion. The group is responsible of the test facilities included in the Fluid Dynamics Lab located in the Siemens Finspång site. The current test facilities allow performing design validation of for example components like: turbine blades and guide vanes, burner and combustion chambers, gas turbine inlet and outlet channels. The work involves being part of the development of new gas turbine models and design improvements on currently available gas turbines within the company portfolio. The work includes tasks correlated both with testing and theoretical calculations. The group is currently composed of 5 engineers.
In this position you will have the possibility to collaborate with project leaders, mechanical designers, company experts within product development and have contacts with further departments like gas turbine assembly and manufacturing. The work in the lab will involve both the practical activities like mounting and dismounting the test utilities and the theoretical part needed for the analysis and validation of the measured data.
The job activities will also include traveling to CEC in Berlin Germany in order to participate on development tests for combustion systems. The CEC testing facility is newly built and it is used to perform high pressure and high temperature combustion testing. You will also have the opportunity to have a role as project leader in order deliver a successful component validation for the new burner designs tested at the facility. You will be involved in the further development of the testing tools in order to continuously improve the quality of the measured validation data provided.
What are my responsibilities?
• Influence development projects for current and new products.
• Independently drive problem solving tasks and risk analysis.
• Technical advice and support to our colleagues within product development, manufacturing and assembly.
• Perform component validation tests in our labs and at the CEC test facility.
• Drive further development within the test validation facility in order to continuously improve the measured validation data.
• Build, mount and dismount the testing facilities used for components validation.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
• MSc or PhD level within the area; fluid dynamics, combustion, energy, physics or equal.
• Relevant experience from component testing within university or industry with regards to fluid dynamic, heat transfer or combustion data measurement is desirable.
• Experience with measurement systems applied on fluid dynamics, heat transfer or combustion is also desirable.
• Experience from gas turbine sector is also appreciated, for example in development, testing or commissioning.
• Good knowledge in Swedish and English, both writing and speaking.
