The Department of Public Health Sciences conducts research and provides training and advice based on the concept of public health.
The research is focused on health problems in the population and how to combat these through preventative social measures and the development of suitable health care systems. The activities have a strongly international character. The department consists of approx. 140 employees who are divided into research groups which operate within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine In addition, we have approx. 60 research students.
Duties
• Develop educational exchange agreements involving both faculty and Master's students with top Higher Education Institutions in Latin America. This could be extended to other low and middle income countries/regions if there is the opportunity.
• Critical assessment of internationalization opportunities in order to select the ones suitable for the overall goals of the department. This duty requires a comprehensive evaluation of the possible agreements in order to understand feasibility within specified timeframes and budget.
• Design execution plans for establishing and implementing exchange agreements in cooperation with personnel from the potential partner universities.
• Proactively look for grants suitable to fund the internationalization activities. Coordinate and perform activities in order to elaborate the high quality application dossier and apply within deadlines to those grants.
• Present the plans before the Master's programme director and other positions at KI in order to defend its suitability and obtain corresponding approvals.
• Follow up execution plans and commitments both from KI and the partner institutions and take action if necessary. It is his/her responsibility to escalate issues out of the position's scope.
• Prepare and defend the mid-term and final reports to KI and funding institutions, if applicable.
The position is part time, 25 %
Entry requirements
• Should have excellent skills in reading, writing, and communicating in both English and Spanish
• It is a merit to have previous experience preparing grant application dossiers
• It is a merit to have previous contacts with top Latin American universities in the field of Global and Public Health, preferably in Spanish speaking countries.
• It is a merit to have project management duties to properly follow up and delegate
• Must be flexible, mature, independent, yet easy-going and good people's skills
• Must be solution oriented and with a service attitude to his/her internal clients
• Should have good multitasking capabilities.
• Must have a relevant Master's degree in the field of health.
