Today, the direct greenhouse gas emissions from industry account for about one third of the total greenhouse gas emissions in Sweden. An industrial transformation is therefore very critical for reaching the Swedish goal of a carbon neutral society by, at the latest, 2045. This transformation is illustrated and / or strengthened by the new Swedish Climate law (in Swedish Klimatlagen,
https://www.naturskyddsforeningen.se/klimatlagen-sa-funkar-den), the Swedish Energy Agency 's program Industriklivet of 300 MSEK per year between 2018-2040 and not least by several major Swedish cross-sectoral industrial projects initiated in the last year, e.g. HYBRIT.
The largest part of the industry's greenhouse gas emissions originates from the process industry. Through, among others, developing more energy-efficient processes, in which field Sweden has been a pioneer country, the emissions have reduced about 20 % compared to 1990 's level. However, in order to further reduce and ultimately fully eliminate the greenhouse gas emissions, new strategies and technology solutions involve more or less radical efforts across multiple value chains, ranging from the choice of raw materials, production and support processes to the products ' impact and end-of-life. A strategy and potential solution are various forms of electrification in the form of Power-to-X, where X stands for heat / hydrogen / chemicals, etc.
RISE is currently running a number of projects within the above-mentioned area, which area we now would like to strengthen with new capacity. You will develop and lead research and innovation projects in collaboration with public actors, industry and the research community, nationally and internationally.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a great drive and willingness to develop and lead R & D projects, the ability to work independently, create good relationships, and communicate issues and results in a clear way in both speech and writing. You have a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering / Energy Engineering / Mechanical Engineering with an interest in various forms of energy conversion, for individual components as well as complete value chains and systems. If you have a technical Licentiate/Ph.D. degree and/or have other experience from R&D, it is meritorious.
