At Corporate Communications, you are part of a global communication team that creates and tells the Volvo Car story globally so that is gets noticed to internal and external audiences. Such audiences include employees, media, NGOs and policymakers. We communicate the company's transition towards the vision of becoming the world's most progressive and desired premium car brand.
Stakeholder Communications is an integral part of Corporate Communications, responsible for building understanding, engagement and pride about Volvo Cars, its brand and the company's core values. The team consists of Internal Communications, Sustainability Communication and Coordination, Volvo Cars Experience and External Corporate Communications.
As Director Sustainability you will be responsible for the establishment and implementation of a communication strategy and platform for sustainability at Volvo Car Group, targeting both internal and external audiences with the aim to push the company's sustainability agenda forward as well as building brand value. This role is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the sustainability strategy for Volvo Car Group in close collaboration with all internal stakeholders contributing to the strategy. You will have one person reporting to you.
Main responsibilities
• Create, implement and follow-up the yearly sustainability communication plan based on the communication strategy, key messages and proposed activities
• Ensure that Volvo Car Group's sustainability strategy is developed and maintained
• Safeguard the integration of sustainability messages and content in relevant communication from Volvo Car Group both internally and externally, including marketing when appropriate
• Ensure cross-functional alignment of the strategic aspects of Volvo Car Group's Sustainability efforts
• Drive the establishment of the Volvo Cars Foundation and Volvo Cars Global CSR strategy
• Corporate Spokesperson for all Sustainability related matters in close collaboration with relevant subject matters experts
Required qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
• Outstanding communication skills with extensive experience from working with communications or related area in a corporate setting
• Excellent presentation, writing and proof reading skills
• Proven leadership skills
• Experience of working with media
• Experience of working with top executives and high profile corporate projects
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• International and /or journalistic experience is meritorious
Personal qualities
• Result-driven and a self-starter
• Business acumen and understanding of business context to create appropriate communication
• High level of integrity and good judgment
• Innovative with a strategic mindset
• Great team player with an ability to motivate and engage
