Director, Corporate Communications
This position is responsible for VFS corporate communication strategies that connect and unify colleagues worldwide and drive awareness, understanding and engagement in VFS and Volvo Group strategies, opportunities and performance. The position informs and ignites internal and external audiences on the value of VFS as an accredited great place to work and as the first choice for financial services in our industry. This position is part of VFS Global Headquarters and is based in Greensboro, NC, USA.
Core responsibilities:
• Develop and execute dynamic, innovative and engaging corporate communication strategies and plans addressing both internal and external audiences
• Liaise with VFS and Volvo Group colleagues on internal and external communications functions/networks worldwide (global, regional/market, Volvo Group North America) for VFS activities and internal and external communication needs
• Plan and develop all forms of content, e.g. written, illustrative, video; organization, business and leadership messages and Q&As; themes and campaigns, news/stories, events, surveys, corporate advertisements, press releases, etc.
• Drive VFS' digital internal communications strategies for effective employee reach, speed and efficiencies
• Plan and steer project teams to execute key VFS events (e.g. VFS Global Leadership Summit)
• Collaborate cross-functionally on employee experience, talent development, change and crisis management, culture and diversity and inclusion activities
• Review/oversee VFS content (written/imagery/video/comments) on all internal communication channels
• Inform, train and inspire colleagues to engage in and be ambassadors for key VFS initiatives
• Plan, develop and implement effective external communications
• Serve as VFS global press spokesperson
• Train VFS colleagues on press/media interactions
• Collaborate cross-functionally to review external communication materials, including press releases, media responses, external presentations
• Provide communications counsel and support to VFS leadership, including coaching, guidance, message and material development
• Benchmark, measure and report progress on industry VFS internal and external communications effectiveness
• Ensure compliance to VFS, Volvo Group and Brand internal and external communication and brand standards
• Manage all initiatives to budgets and timeframes
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related field required. MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred
• 10+ years of corporate communications experience
• Previous financial services or transportation industry experience preferred
• Previous experience working for a large multinational organization preferred
Required Competencies and Skills:
• Superior ability to understand and interpret needs of different stakeholders and audiences, as well as the strategic aspects of our business
• Superior writing, storytelling and proofreading skills, including the ability to understand and interpret needs of different stakeholders and audiences. Knowledge of AP Style preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in English language
• Strong leadership, strategic reasoning, creative, planning and execution abilities
• Excellent illustrative, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
• Seasoned in H2H and project leadership-for-results
• High proficiency with digital communications tools and technologies. Active in today's digital world
• Excellent organizational, prioritization and project management skills to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced professional environment
• Hands-on experience with business, sales, and marketing strategies and how internal communications can support them
• Seasoned in planning and coordinating key events
• Thrives as an advocate and coach for key initiatives
• Passionate about working in a diverse and energetic team; effectively communicates with stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach and optimal result
• Experience in working with top management and cross-culturally
• Experience in B2B and B2C environments
• Seasoned in Microsoft Office 365, collaboration forums and apps, survey and newsletter tools, video production, conferencing and chat forums, podcasts, planning and measurement tools, and graphics design applications (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite; In Design, Photoshop, Acrobat)
• Seasoned in vendor negotiations, agency relations and resource management
• Ability to travel
