What we offer
The new organization will develop technologically-advanced and efficient combustion engines and hybrid powertrains for Volvo Cars and Geely Auto. The new stand-alone business can also supply third-party manufacturers, providing exciting growth opportunities. The gradual electrification of the automotive industry means there will be significant ongoing demand for efficient hybrid powertrains alongside fully-electric offerings. As consequence, hybrid cars need the best internal combustion engines.
The new business, currently operating under the internal name ICE, includes research and development, procurement, manufacturing, IT, PX/HR and finance functions. Within this unit, the section/ART Engine Controls & Diagnostics (64160) is responsible for combustion engine control and diagnostic software, and the calibration of this, in hybrid powertrains. We lead the development for controls and diagnostics with significant parts of in-house development. We launch hundreds of variants of production files every year and improve our software development process continuously to do that in high quality. The work we perform has a major impact on product quality and reliability as well as legal compliance. The diagnostics team is responsible for designing, optimizing and validating diagnostic functions for all Powertrain units to fulfil OBD and workshop requirements worldwide. We ensure that the customer/driver as far as possible get correct and nothing else but necessary Powertrain diagnostic information.

What You'll do
As a Diagnostic Core Calibration Engineer you will have two areas of responsibilities For Diagnostic Fault Manager and External Diagnostic Communication Services, you will work in a team calibrating control systems for engines. The main task for the Diagnostic Fault Manager is to offer a generic toolbox for the different detectors (OBD monitors) and apply necessary counter measures when a fault is present like inhibitions and reconfiguration. The main task for the External Diagnostic Communication is to provide a generic toolbox that delivers accurate error information to the aftermarket tool at workshops. The other area of responsibility will be calibration of the internal communication monitors that are present in the systems. This monitoring area is connected to the OBD platform system and therefore calibrated in this team.
Do you fit the profile?
• You have a university degree within engineering or solid experience from automotive development, as well knowledge in engine diagnostics, combustion engine calibration or combustion engine control.
• You have experience in electronic diagnostic systems, knowledge of CAN communication, Capability to understand complex systems and functions
• You need to have good knowledge in Matlab, Simulink, INCA and Python.
• You have a valid a driver license in Sweden as or comparable to class B/BE.
• You are fluent in English written and verbal, Swedish is beneficial.
• A basic understanding of combustion engines, diagnostics and dependability, engine emissions, certification, homologation, applied mathematics, control system theory, model based/predictive control or software deployment are considered beneficial.
• Practical problem solving skills such as experience in ECU flashing, vehicle handling or test facility operations are considered meritorious.
