Etraveli is a leading European flight-centric online travel agency (OTA). The core business is airline tickets and travel related services, geared towards large volumes of cost-conscious costumers. Our success depends crucially on the ability to take automated decisions with high precision.
About the job
Your main task will be writing statistical models and optimization routines, and to perform application programming (Python) to present the models as prototypes. The work will include research, model design, data preparation and programming. You will also contribute to data visualization and advanced analyses.
The role requires both a deep understanding of the business and an advanced technical skill set. The latter includes handling relevant data and the ability to creatively and usefully apply mathematical reasoning to concrete problems.

About you
Yourself, you are a mathematician, statistician, physicist or similar with experience from statistical modeling and data analysis. You have a technical background in software development. You have strong communication skills including excellent command of spoken and written English. Regarding your personality, you are curious, pragmatic and analytical.
To succeed in the role, you must be able to quickly develop an intuitive understanding of incompletely described complex systems - both in entirety and down to the details. Business interest and mathematical maturity are both crucial.
We expect you to have...
• a university master's degree in mathematics, physics or comparable
• demonstrated experience of handling and interpreting structured data (E.g. SQL)
• demonstrated programming experience
We get all excited by each of the following:
• Experience from using quantitative methods to take business decisions
• Experience from collaborative software development
• PhD in a quantitative field
• Python experience
• Scientific programming languages (R, SciPy, Matlab, Mathematica)
• Data visualization and analytics (QlikView, Looker, Jasper reports)
• A couple of years of work experience.
• System configuration (GNU/Linux tool sets)
