Right now, we're searching for a Data Scientist in our Stockholm office - are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
The role
As a Data Scientist you will develop on-point analyses that help improve Viaplay's experience and enable dedicated colleagues to make strategic decisions.
You will work in a team with other a team of Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Analytics Engineers who share knowledge and experience in researching and developing data products and analysis. You love researching and prototyping with statistical and machine learning methodologies that enable descriptive and prescriptive data products while making these efforts relevant for our various internal partners. You enjoy working with teammates to find viable ways to bring projects to life.
• We offer you the opportunity to play a strategic role in a fast-paced environment. Streaming is changing the way media is consumed and Viaplay is one of the leading actors in northern Europe. Statistical research is increasingly playing a central role in making decisions.
• As a Data Scientist you will play a key role in making data products, from research reports to interactives. By tapping into Viaplay's Data Lake, you will work with stakeholders to identify research questions, then conduct everything from exploratory data analyses to statistical decomposition - all in the name of an improved customer experience.
• Our technology stack offers great opportunities to showcase and develop your data science skills. You will work have access to a range of tooling, including Databricks, RStudio Workbench, AWS, Tableau among others. We work in a variety of data languages, including Scala/Spark, R, Python, and SQL.
• Participate in stakeholders discussions and help formulate problem statements for analytical projects.
• Improve the data literacy across Viaplay and foster a culture of empirical inquiry.
What we're looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that's why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you'll have at least some experience and skills in the following:
• Strong communicator and listener
• Able to distil complex concepts for business audiences
• Affinity towards teaming up with other curious minds to tackle analytical challenges
• Curiosity to conduct research while able to find practical ways to translate into a reliable, customer-facing data product
• Academic degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent
• Familiarity and experience solving product problems through statistical models and machine learning techniques (e.g. gradient boosting, neural networks, etc), among others.
• High competence in R or Python and SQL. Scala and Spark are extra pluses.
