Now we are searching for a Director Hardware Engineering:
Do you want a chance to get deeper technical insight, take a step further in your career and develop your leadership skills? Out client is looking for a Director Hardware Engineering to lead the R&D Hardware unit. This person will be report into VP R&D and be part of the R&D Management team.
Your Key Responsibilities Would Include (but Not Limited To)
Technical Responsibilities
Being overall responsible for the areas Electronics Design, Layout Design, FPGA Design, Optics Design, and Mechanics Design. It includes all phases in the product life cycle from Pre-study to end of life (sustaining activities) i.e. design, develop, test, document, maintain and assure quality of Metro HW.
Responsibility for the environment, lab instruments, SW tools or other needed to perform the work. Engaging in technical and commercial dialogues with our vendors. Enable customer understanding within the group. Taking a long term responsibility for products. Staying updated concerning relevant technical areas, keeping tools, methods up-to-date, process improvement, and new ways of working.
Management Responsibilities
• Direct management responsibility for a Hardware management team of first line managers and direct reporting.
• Being overall responsible for the hardware team of approximately 20 people.
• Fostering a collaborative environment and work closely with other development units. Initiate and empower innovation and improvement.
• Manage and motivate people. Work with competence development and knowledge transfer.
• Recruiting employees and/or consultants when needed.
• Perform salary reviews and performance management dialogues
• Participate in the budget process by estimating the needs for future equipment etc.
• General coordination and follow-up of the teams activities
Education & Experience Necessary For Success
M.Sc. or B.Sc. or equivalent technical education
At least 5 years of management experience
At least 5 years of experience within HW development
Experience from Lean and Agile development
Knowledge of working conditions of similar kind.
Knowledge in fiber optics and telecom
Structured and thorough
Driven and willing to take own initiatives
Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken
Experience from working globally is an advantage
