Are you interested in working with electronic and cost ?Do you have a passion for electronics and continuously learning new things ?Then this might be a perfect position for you so keep reading!There is now an opportunity for you to join us in the Cost Engineering Team as a Cost Engineer for Electric/Electronics.Cost Engineers calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new truck projects and as a support to today's truck business. Our department also works extensively with Volvo Construction Equipment and Busses.We perform cost target settings and cost calculations for new and existing parts based on drawings and/or physical parts.Role description:You will start early in the advanced engineering/concept selection phase, working intimately with engineering and design.You will follow the products through the development phases and then actively support the targets you have set in the sourcing process.Another part of Cost Engineering work is to support the change management process, calculating impact in tooling and product cost.In this work it's important to cooperate with many different parts of our organization such as buyers, engineers, project leaders, module managers and of course your colleagues within the Controlling & Strategy department.In your daily work you will be an active partner with PD supporting with Design to Cost - giving industrial engineering support and advice on efficient designs for manufacturability and also on material selection that fulfils the design criteria's.You will be an active partner in negotiations together with purchasing both in the initial sourcing and in the change management process.You will be required to be able to take in-depth technical discussions with supplier in their production lines or lay-outs about cost drivers and investments.In the change management you should be able to understand the impact on dies / tools and be able to transfer this into costYou will be required to frequently visit suppliers / technical exhibitions, this in order to be aware of current production methods and materials, but also future technologies that will be used when our trucks goes into production.Who are we?We are a group of motivated engineers with different background, knowledge and experience in electrical, electronic and electromechanical components working in a very good atmosphere.We work with existing products as well as with new and different technologies and products. Who are you?As a person you are easy to cooperate with and are willing to contribute to the team. You are also able to take your own initiatives and can work independently. It's important that you are analytic and structured. We also believe that you are interested in both the commercial and technical aspects of our products and projects and that you are comfortable with negotiations.We believe that you are experienced in processes and materials in relation to electrical / electronics production. This would mean software development, surface mounting devices, wiring harnesses, electro mechanics (Switches , starter, etc), Infotainment (Navigation, Radios etc), antennas etc.You should have knowledge of what drives investment and tools into the electrical / electronics processes. You should be able to calculate investment into software development, production tooling and special developments.You should have knowledge in process / production times, assembly methods and of how production setups for different parts are done.You have as a minimum a B.Sc in electronics or electro mechanics engineering or equivalent experience.
