Position Overview
The COO will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This leader will oversee all aspects of the company's operational strategy, focusing on scaling sales, building a high-performing team, and ensuring the successful introduction of our network into a new market. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of driving revenue, achieving operational excellence, and embodying a forward-thinking, people-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement scalable sales methods to increase membership and partnership revenue streams.
Identify, negotiate, and cultivate strategic alliances to drive business development and market expansion.
Lead the launch of the network in a new market, including market research, competitive analysis, and localized planning.
Establish market-specific performance goals and metrics, ensuring timely delivery.
Activate and inspire a distributed team of freelancers & volunteers, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Create robust performance management systems, setting clear KPIs and professional development paths for team members.
Foster a positive, inclusive work culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Streamline workflows, implement scalable processes, and leverage technology to optimize efficiency and maintain high-quality standards.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to maximize ROI and operational effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data privacy standards, and ethical business practices.
Collaborate with the CEO and executive leadership team to shape the company's long-term vision and operational roadmap.
Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, ensuring measurable impact and alignment with overall company goals.
Regularly review and refine the company's operating model, introducing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior operational role (COO, VP of Operations, or similar).
Track Record in Sales and Growth: Demonstrated success in driving revenue, forging strategic partnerships, and scaling membership or subscription-based businesses.
Market Entry Expertise: Experience launching products, services, or networks into new markets, with proven ability to adapt strategies to local contexts.
Team Leadership: History of leading distributed or freelance teams, fostering collaboration, and building a high-performance culture.
Operational Excellence: Skilled in process optimization, workflow automation, and resource allocation in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Strategic Thinking: Able to anticipate market dynamics, identify growth opportunities, and forecast future challenges.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking calculated risks, and continuously iterating business strategies.
Influential Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and executive presence, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
Adaptability: Capable of thriving in a rapidly evolving environment, while maintaining professionalism and composure under pressure.
Integrity and Professionalism: Upholds ethical standards, engenders trust, and serves as a role model for the entire organization.
Reporting Structure
The COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with the executive leadership team, as well as external advisors, partners, and the board.
