Our dynamic and expanding workplace employs around 130 people at a centrally located, activity-based HQ office in Stockholm, with an additional 200 employees in seven centres globally.

The role
We are seeking a Communications and Impact Officer to drive communications and impact across research projects, initiatives and strategic policy engagement areas from our head office in Stockholm. The successful candidate will possess a background in communications or journalism, and will be responsible for leading communications and impact work across several of SEI's research projects. This role also involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of SEI's strategy.

Key duties and responsibilities
Engage closely with research projects and teams to develop and co-create proposals.
Lead communications and impact planning processes, delivering communications advice and outputs.
Serve as an advisor for research teams, providing insights and direction that align with SEI's overarching strategic goals and amplifies societal relevance for project impact.
Write engaging news stories, blogs and social media posts; plan and moderate events, ensuring coordinating with the media team for a unified communications approach.
Apply Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) methodologies throughout all project stages.

Formal qualifications and knowledge
A Master's degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience.
A minimum of four years of experience in communications or journalism.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, suitable for both technical and public audiences.
Experience in project management, including familiarity with MEL methodology.
Proficiency in digital communication (WordPress, Buffer, social media) and modern communication technologies and practices.

Required personal skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A demonstrated passion for environmental, climate and development issues.
Ability to positively influence team attitudes and provide constructive feedback.
A driven and structured approach, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.

Additional information
This full-time permanent position is based at SEI HQ in Stockholm, Sweden.
SEI has a hybrid work environment, which allows employees to share their time between the SEI office and working remotely from their homes in Sweden. Please note that it is not possible to work outside of Sweden.
The start date is as soon as possible or by arrangement.
