Position Overview:

The Category Director is responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and overall success of a designated product category. This role involves leading and managing a cross-functional team to ensure the category aligns with the company's broader strategic goals and drives sustainable growth. The Category Director plays a critical role in steering product innovation, driving revenue, managing resources efficiently, and maintaining a high level of collaboration across all involved departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Direction & Category Management
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the product category that aligns with the company's long-term objectives.

Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats, using this information to inform product and sales strategies.

Set and track category performance metrics, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead and oversee the cross-functional category team.

Establish clear goals, ensure alignment across functions, and foster an environment of collaboration and innovation.

Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members to drive project success.

Sales Strategy & Performance
Develop and refine sales strategies that drive revenue and market share growth.

Monitor sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust plans to achieve or exceed targets.

Ensure that sales initiatives are effectively integrated into overall category plans.

Coordinate sales across all Business channels (Amazon, Walmart and other business areas in line with strategy)

Product Development & Lifecycle Management
Guide the Product Developer in creating a robust product roadmap, ensuring that product launches meet quality standards and market demands.

Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept through to launch and post-launch analysis, making data-driven decisions to optimize product performance.

Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies to inform product innovation.

Brand, Marketing & Content Oversight
Collaborate with the Graphic Designer, Copywriter, and Performance Marketing Specialist to create cohesive and impactful marketing campaigns.

Ensure all marketing efforts are aligned with brand guidelines and strategic objectives.

Analyze marketing performance metrics and provide guidance on optimizing marketing investments.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Work in conjunction with the Inventory Coordinator to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Oversee inventory planning and demand forecasting to support category growth while minimizing waste and stockouts.

Implement strategies to streamline supply chain operations and improve overall category profitability.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Regularly review and analyze category performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure category success.

Continuously evaluate and improve category management processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Amazon Expertise: Minimum 3+ years of experience managing and scaling products (especially pet & animal products) on Amazon.com, with deep knowledge of Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Advertising (PPC), and marketplace dynamics. Proven track record of revenue growth, competitive positioning, and data-driven decision-making on the platform.

U.S. Market Mastery: In-depth understanding of U.S. pet owner behaviors, buying patterns, and emerging trends. Must be able to anticipate customer needs and translate them into commercially successful products. Experience with DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) and other U.S. retail channels is a strong advantage.

Pet & Animal Industry Expertise: Experience working directly with pet and animal-related products, including product development, category management, or brand building. Strong understanding of pet care trends, regulatory requirements, and customer preferences.

Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to define and execute category strategies, drive profitable growth, and make data-driven decisions in a high-paced environment. Strong skills in pricing strategy, demand forecasting, and P&L ownership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience leading and working closely with Product Development, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales teams to drive success. Ability to align category goals with broader company objectives.

Sales & Performance Focused: Strong track record of revenue growth and category expansion. Must be comfortable working with KPIs, data analysis, and performance reporting.

Negotiation & Vendor Management: Experience sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure cost efficiencies and product quality.

Results-Oriented & Hands-On Mentality: A highly analytical, proactive, and solution-focused mindset. Must thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership and accountability.
