Base Concept Engineer - Communication
At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As BASE CONCEPT ENGINEER - COMMUNICATION within the group Network Design your main task is to develop a feasible solution for a specific base technology to prospective customer- and car programs. The group is part of the section Diagnostics and ECU Platform which is responsible for all base technologies in the electrical platform that forms the base for the entire electrical system. You will be working in all phases from pre-development to industrialisation. Ensuring a sustainable solution is important in this role, but also to maintain and support. As you establish and develop relationships with designers within almost all system areas as well as other stakeholders, the position requires very good social skills and high integrity. Job profile:
• Lead the development of a balanced system for the network design for concepts such as Ethernet, WLAN and USB
• Drive or participate in relevant analyses and reports
• Secure technology readiness by working with advanced engineering
• Actively support concept studies
Your profile:
• High integrity and great communication skills
• Motivated and dedicated
• Fluent in English
• Minimum 5 years work experience within relevant field
• Deep know-how in:
• Internet Protocol suite
• IEEE 802.1AS, IEEE 802.1Qat, IEEE 802.1Qav, PTP, IEEE 1722, IEEE 1722.1, IEEE 1733
• ISO 13400 - DoIP
• Software programming within embedded systems
• Good know-how about the 'cloud'
• General know-how within Physical Layers: Ethernet, WLAN, USB, Telematics (GSM, 3G, LTE)
• Certifications against CCNA 1-4 are meritious
• Bachelor/Master of Science in Engineering (electronics, computer engineering or equivalent)
