Northern Sweden is a European space region with several major players collaborating in space technology and space science. Luleå University of Technology (LTU) represented by the Division of Space Technology located in Kiruna conducts research in atmosphere and planetary sciences, and space system engineering. In close proximity, two other research organisations are located, e.g. the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) and EISCAT Scientific Association. The Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Technology is seeking an associate senior lecturer to develop the research and education activities. Our daily activities are supported by high-quality infrastructure such as laboratory facilities for systems testing and rocket propulsion, small satellites, asteroid engineering, and spacecraft avionics. You will be working in the Space System group which focuses on payloads, spacecraft and launchers for technology demonstration and utilisation as well as space applications and exploration in the upper atmosphere, Earth orbit, and planetary space.
Duties
As an associate senior lecturer in space systems, you will conduct research in the field of nano satellites and are involved in teaching topics like on-board data handling, spacecraft computer systems, space electronics, satellite communications. To realize your research, you will attract the external funding from the Swedish national and international organizations. You will be working with the leading international space companies and agencies, users of space technologies, universities, and research institutions. You will also disseminate the research achievements by publishing in the international well-recognized journals and presenting at international conferences. You will also supervise PhD students and teach MSc courses.
Qualifications
Eligible to be hired as associate senior lecturer is the one who has completed a doctorate or have a foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a doctorate. In the first instance, it should be considered for employment that has completed a doctorate a maximum of five years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been passed earlier. By special reasons is meant leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, trust assignment, or similar circumstances.

Period of employment
For this employment, an employment period of four years applies.
Promotion to senior lecturer
An associate senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to university lecturer (senior lecturer) and an employment until further notice if he/she has the qualifications for an appointment as a senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such employment according to the assessment grounds set out below.The examination requires that the associate senior lecturer has undergone higher education equivalent to 7.5 credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge In addition, during the period of employment, the associate senior lecturer shall independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
