hela Sverige The new Forest division, which started operations in the beginning of 2020, includes Stora Enso's Swedish forest assets and the 41% share of Tornator with the majority of its forest assets located in Finland. The division also includes wood supply operations in Finland, Sweden, Russia and the Baltic countries. The division's key focus areas are sustainable forest management, competitive wood supply to Stora Enso's mills and innovation. As a major player in the bioeconomy, access to wood is critical for Stora Enso. Today, Stora Enso is one of the biggest private forest owners in the world.
We are looking now for Vice President, Forest R&D to join the Forest Division at Stora Enso.
Forest Division has an extensive R&D program spanning across the whole wood supply chain from biology to technology. We are also supporting R&D organisation at our plantations in China and South America.
We offer you a challenging position in our Forest Division with real opportunities to influence and have an impact on our business success. You will be working together with our operational wood supply units in the Forest Division and research suppliers in Academy, Institutes and SMEs to ensure the success of our R&D projects. You will have the possibility to build on the content, and initiate and develop new ideas, of our R&D, by close collaboration with our experts and selection of the best research suppliers.
Your responsibilities
• Lead R&D work in the Forest Division. Developing the strategy, communication, and co-ordination between units.
• Develop, initiate and implement relevant R&D project together with operational units and research suppliers (Academy, Institutes, SMEs)
• Support our wood supply units and plantation in R&D issues.
• Transforming R&D results into business opportunities in operations
Requirements
In order to succeed in this role, you have:
• PhD in relevant field
• 10+ years of experience in managing R&D projects at Universities, Institutes[SB1] or industry
• Knowledge in one or several areas important for wood supply; breeding, forest biology, forest management, inventory and planning, harvesting operations, sustainability
• Strong existing network in Universities and Institutes and ability to network both inside a matrix organisation and with external stakeholders
• Independent in work and able to present information in professional manner in an international context
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Practical and solution oriented
• Business minded
• Readiness to travel

This position is based in Sweden or Finland.
