Role Summary/Purpose:
The thesis is carried out within the department of Operational Excellence at GE Healthcare Life Sciences in Uppsala. The Student/Students will be supported by a supervisor who is a Lean Leader in the Continuous Improvement group within the department.
Full Title for the thesis: M.Sc. or B.Sc. Thesis - Optimization of Production Material Flow by Simulation Software
Essential Responsibilities:
The purpose of the thesis is to:
• Carry out a benchmark on the supply of simulation tools for discrete production material flow (Promodel, Automod etc.) and provide a recommendation based on given criterias
• Utilize the selected simulation tool together with a group of lean experts from Operational Excellence to optimize the production material flow on two selected production lines.
• Make a business case for the optimization
• Create a simple and use friendly training material for the chosen simulation for future use within the Operational Excellence department
Qualifications/Requirements:
• 1-2 M.Sc. or B.Sc. student/students with a mechanical, software/IT, Systems & Control, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or equivalent background
• EU work permit
Desired Characteristics
• Experience from process/material flow simulation software
• Excellent communication skills (English or Swedish)
