ABB and SNC-Lavalin have signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) for the execution of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects for electrical substations. By combining ABB's world-leading technology and its market leadership position in power transmission and distribution with SNC-Lavalin's strengths and in delivering infrastructure projects, the joint venture will help meet the evolving need of power grids across the globe for safe, reliable and state-of-the-art electrical substations.
Substations are key elements in power grid infrastructure that facilitate the efficient transmission and distribution of electricity. They control and protect power flows, connect power stations to the grid and link transmission and distribution networks as well as end consumers. ABB is a world leader in air-insulated, gas-insulated and hybrid electrical substations with voltage levels up to 1,200 kV. These substations facilitate the efficient and reliable transmission and distribution of electricity with minimum environmental impact. They serve utility, industry and commercial customers as well as sectors including railways, urban transportation and renewables.
We are currently looking for two highly motivated Tendering Specialists for EPC High Voltage Substations in the Scandinavian, European, Iraqi and other markets. You will work in an interdisciplinary tender team, which supports the Bid & Proposal Manager in preparing the offer, during all technical clarifications and commercial negotiations. You may also participate in negotiations with the customer as well as with suppliers
Tasks:
As Tendering Specialist, you will formulate competitive bids, estimates and/or quotations, taking into account best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation. You will also work to ensure that tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.
You will, with support from specialists, manage the preparation of all technical (e.g. defining the most suitable technology and product types); financial (e.g. total price sheet, cash flow analysis); and, if necessary, project management (e.g. quantifies man-hours for project management, engineering, civil works, installation and commissioning) aspects of the bid, estimate and/or quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. You will also structure the bids, estimates and quotations in order to meet financing requirements.
The job is based in Västerås, with some possibility to work remotely. It is important that you can be flexible with your time - things will get intense during certain periods and a lot of your time will be required - and at other times it will slow down. You should also be ready to travel for work 6-8 times per year
In this role, you will increase your business network in the EPC business in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, as well as globally. A natural first step onward from this role is to work as a bid & proposals manager, and it is possible then to develop further within sales or project management. For the right person, management opportunities may arise both locally and globally.
Requirements:
For this role, we do not require specific university studies but the successful candidate will most likely have a technical degree. It is important that you have some fundamental knowledge of the high voltage electrical system.
We are looking for a fast learner with strong analytical skills. While specific experience in the field is not required, it will be beneficial if you have some previous experience of EPC business and/or High Voltage Substations and if you have knowledge of electrical technology.
Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is considered a key skill. Knowledge in time planning programs (e.g. MS Project) is considered added value.
The job requires that you are fluent in English and Swedish with good communication skills. A third language such as German, French, Arabic or Spanish, would be considered added value.
We are looking for you who like collaborating with others, are responsible and organized, can handle many parallel activities and have strong self-motivation and drive. You enjoy working and learning independently as well as in a team setting.
As mentioned, this role will be based in Vasteras, Sweden and requires willingness to travel for work, up to 25% of the time.
Additional Information:
As a Tendering Specialist in our team, you will have the opportunity to be part of the early days of a new company as it is being created and shaped for the future. If you like new challenges, have an entrepreneurial spirit and are interested in working with other motivated and seasoned professionals with expertise in the EPC business, backed up by two large, well-established organizations, then this is the opportunity for you.
