What we offer
In our journey towards a sustainable future a new focus area was discovered; thermal efficiency. We strive towards energy efficient cars with maximum range and are one of the attribute teams at sustainability centre.
What you'll do
You will work closely with the Thermal Efficiency team, but you will also be part of the Technical Expert community at Volvo Cars. As a technical expert you will lead the research area of thermal Efficiency and have a lot of communication with organisation outside of Volvo Cars such as different universities.
Areas of responsibilities:
• Develop and support the development of new methods to simulate and verify energy consumption related to the thermal systems as well as for quantifying thermal losses
• Support the Vehicle Energy Efficiency teams with regards to thermal efficiency
• Support and transfer knowledge to other relevant areas in the company in order to reduce thermal losses and minimize energy consumption for thermal management purposes
• Develop and support the development of new technology and verification methods
• Provide coaching, guidance, and education with regards to thermal efficiency
• Create and maintain a long-term strategy and Technical Insight for thermal efficiency and to spread the information to relevant areas.
• Establish long term thermal efficiency target levels as basis for setting program specific requirements.
• Represent the company at internal and external technical meetings and in working groups
• Collect inspiration and knowledge from areas outside the automotive industry.
You and your skills
You have extensive knowledge in the field of thermodynamics, at least 10 years of working experience and minimum a M.Sc. from a relevant area. You are skilled in CFD simulations and possess a deep all-round understanding of the automotive development process and of automotive design and engineering principles. As a technical expert you constantly demonstrate the capability and willingness to coach and mentor others and to present your technical knowledge. High communications skills are a necessity as well as a will to grow both as a person and in your technical area. The main communication language for you will be English, meaning your English is fluent both when it comes to writing and speaking.
