ISH was established in 1995 to answer a growing demand for a truly international education at the Primary and Secondary levels. Today, we have approximately 650 students between 3 and 19 years of age attending our Pre-school, Primary School, Middle School and Diploma Programme with International Baccalaureate. Our teachers come from more than 30 different countries all over the world, and the same goes for our students.
Our Primary school on Östra Vallgatan 9. This programmes offer an alternative for international families who are residing in the Helsingborg region on a temporary basis, or for those moving overseas. Our Middle School and Diploma Program is located in a separate building at Nicolai School at Studievägen 2, and is an excellent choice for all students, Swedish or International, looking to further their studies abroad or in Sweden once they graduate. The aim of our school is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
Publiceringsdatum2017-08-03ArbetsuppgifterIt is key to the success of this role that the candidate is able build positive working relationships with the library assistant/s, PYP class teachers and specialists. They must be prepared to attend collaborative planning meetings, and also create their own lines of professional communication so that they can best support teachers, both in terms of ideas for teaching and learning, and in the practical organisation of materials to support those ideas.
Key library responsibilities, in collaboration with library assistant, will include:
• Scheduling K&PYP 30 minute weekly sessions in the library time-table.
• Library session planning for K & PYP classes.
• Delivery of library sessions for K&PYP classes = approximately 12 hours teaching time.
• Support for Swedish teachers when they visit the library.
• Attending and actively contributing to PYP. Collaborative Planning Meetings.
• Updating Managebac PYP unit planning.
• Keeping library displays well maintained. frequently changing/updating them to make them attractive and relevant to students.
• Upgrading the library space.
• Working with class teachers to supply and refresh PYP 'book corners' in each classroom.
• Responding to PYP book order requests & ordering new publications on own initiative.
• Ensuring that class teachers have appropriate class Read-Aloud texts.
• Developing the library PYP Teacher Resources e.g. up-to-date pedagogical texts and educational research texts.
Key Literature Circle responsibilities will include:
• Development of Literature Circle resources for PYP1-6, (including the writing of discussion questions).
• Development of Author Studies.
• Training for parents as they learn to support groups in class.
• In-class support for PYP2,4&5 as they begin to use the literature circle resources.
Other additional responsibilities might include:
• Collegial professional development
contributions.
• Active support and planning for World Book Day celebrations (including K class rhyme-along).
KvalifikationerRequired:
• Experience with teaching Children.
• Knowledge about and a passion for children's literature and a desire to share this passion with our students.
• Be up-to-date with new and relevant publications which appeal to children from different cultures, religious backgrounds and personal interests.
• Believe in the importance of engaging children from a young age in reading, and be prepared to help each child, in a highly personal way, to develop a positive and confident relationship to books. They should be prepared to help students find a 'way in' to reading, whether that is through non-fiction texts, picture books, fantasy, poetry or play-script.
• Be able to lead interactive discussions with students - in library sessions and in literature circles - helping them to collaboratively respond to the ideas in a shared text, asking high-level questions, and probing deeply into the meaning of stories.
Preferred:
• Primary teaching degree.
