Special Products & Accessories is a "stand-alone" organisation within Vehicle Line Management, where the main mission is to create customised and brand building products, based upon consumer insight, business and market needs. The group Exterior is developing different exterior systems and products both to factory built cars and as accessory. The product portfolio today contains products like styling kits, spoilers, wheels, tow bars, roof boxes, cross bars, chassis, mud flaps. We are constantly aiming towards finding new innovative products and solutions that will enhance our product range and increase our profitability. We work in close cooperation with other departments within Volvo Cars R&D, as well as with national and international suppliers. We have a complete responsibility for strategy, technology, skills and business development.
As Task Leader, you will be responsible for exterior assignments from PS (Program Start), up until FSR (Final Status Report). It will be different projects and exterior products so we are looking for someone who has a very broad knowledge of exterior development. You will work in very close cooperation with external design engineers and external system suppliers. You will work in a global environment with high speed and a wide contact net.
Main responsibilities
* Actively lead the assignment, cross-functional team and ensure that all results and deliveries are in accordance to the request
* Communicate and report the status for time, technique and cost to the TPL at Special Products & Accessories
* Hold meetings both internal and with external suppliers
* Prepare design review checklists and meetings for the assignment together with line manager
* Ensure that analysis, verification and validation requirements are created, monitored and implemented
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering in the automotive industry
* Wide experience in mechanical development of products in different material and processes
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving license B
Meritorious
* M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
* Experience from low volume development and processes
* Project and team leading in automotive business
* Competence in exterior material development plastic and metal
