What 's in it for you
Propulsion Strategy and Innovation is directing Propulsion unit deliveries in concept phase and technology development, aiming to deliver world class products that reflects our brand focus on sustainability and safety. Our focus is to lead, analyze and develop concepts and system solutions for electrical propulsion system including hybrid systems in the next generation vehicles. Electrical propulsion is one of the most exciting areas you can be part of, due to the Volvo Cars ' electrification strategy and goals.
As a System Safety Engineer you will be part of Electrical Propulsion System CAE & Systems Design. This group consists of three teams and works with the electrical propulsion system for the new generation of electric vehicles and full hybrids. All three teams within whole electrical propulsion system are working in close collaboration in the areas of System Safety, Systems Design, Architecture and Simulations (CAE). You will belong to System Safety team and focusing on the most important aspect of the system, safety. Some of the important parts of our systems are High Voltage Batteries, Electric Motors, Inverters and Chargers.
Your key tasks
You will have the opportunity to participate in the creation of Functional and Technical Safety Concepts with safety goals or ASIL classified requirements for the Electrical propulsion system. Further, your main responsibility will be to ensure that the system safety requirements are met on the overall system level.
Acting as a project system safety manager in accordance to ISO 26262, you will support and verify the company 's system safety work products and that system safety processes and methods are used accordingly. And the same time you will also verify suppliers' system safety work products.
All your work needs to be archived, hence you will be continuously documenting the system safety activities in a Safety Plan and work products in a Safety Case.
You and your skills
We expect you have University degree within Electronics, Physics, Mechatronics or equivalent with relevant working background.
You have documented experience from product development on complex functions and systems, and have at least 5 years of relevant working history in relevant area. You are experienced in developing according to system safety standards and have a strong knowledge and expertise with ISO 26262.
As you will be working mostly with Charging and Electric battery and Electric drive areas, knowledge of these components is desired and beneficial to be able to review the components and come up with the best solutions. However, extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methods is a merit.
On a personal level
You will have a close contact with development team of certain component, work cross functionally with other stakeholders, as well as with external suppliers. That is why we expect you to have open and clear communication, be a god presenter and have a strong teamwork capability. At the same time you need to be open-minded and positive with innovative approach in finding solutions. For this role is especially important that you keep yourself organized and have an analytical approach and structure.
