What do we offer?

We are dedicated to electrify our brand in a broad effort with Plug-In hybrids (PHEVs) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). At the engineering department of Propulsion Energy Systems, we are responsible for design and delivery of the technical solution of Traction Battery systems for electrified vehicles. We are the core competence centre in Northern Europe in regards to Lithium Ion technology and automotive battery systems.

The company target is to electrify 10% of the cars in 2020 and to have 1 million electrified cars on the road in 2025. The rapidly advancing battery technology is the main enabler to reach that goal and our journey has just begun!

As safety is a core value for Volvo Cars, ensuring that the Battery System is developed according to the ISO 26262 standard is crucial.

We develop the complete battery system in-house, meaning that you will be working with a broad range of tasks, from hazard analysis on complete battery level to technical safety case on battery management systems and software safety cases.

Needless to say there will be plenty of technical challenges for you to take on together with all the skilled engineers within the Traction Battery team!

What you'll do

You will be working within the system architecture team together with one more system safety engineer with the main task to lead and execute system safety analysis on battery systems. This includes in short:
* Breaking down hazard analysis to safety goals
* Creating and distributing requirements to subsystems both within the battery and outside of the battery
* Creating technical safety concept on a battery system level
* Leading FMEDA:s

You will also support and educate the development teams within the department in system safety working methods, according to ISO26262.

Do you fit the profile?

In order to succeed in this role, we believe that you have at least 3 years of experience working according to the functional safety standard ISO26262, preferably both with hardware and software development. We want you to have good knowledge in the standard, including relevant safety analysis (parts 5, 6 and 9). You have at least a Bachelors' Degree in relevant field and experience from FMEDA.

It will be meritorious if you have knowledge in battery systems, or at least experience in on other complex control system within automotive.

You are a good team player where you like to both listen to your colleagues' ideas but also like to teach and encourage them. You are good at collaborate with other functions within Volvo Cars and strive to find solutions together with them. Since the battery team is growing rapidly, it's important that you like to work in a changing environment.
