What 's in it for you
Our Agile Release Train Power and Energy (ARTPAE), within Vehicle Software & Electronics, is responsible for vehicle mode control, enabling and disabling the vehicle for driving, availability of electrical power and energy for all electrical consumers, and the software and hardware for all 12V and 48V power supply components. We work with solutions from early concept to industrialization and follow-up in the field. We are dedicated to building cross-functional and empowered teams and an agile environment where we learn every day, challenge each other and give continuous feedback.
We are now looking for a System Safety Engineer (SSE) that wants to join forces with our development teams in taking our power supply solution - including the recently launched 48V system - to the next level!
When striving for the optimal product you will collaborate with several other functional safety experts in many different areas within Volvo Cars. Combined with your daily interaction within ARTPAE's own broad area of expertise, your long-term development will benefit, you will build a great network and expand your knowledge in many different fields.
What will you do?
As one of three SSE's in the ARTPAE Shared Services team, you will ensure that the software and hardware we put in our cars, both developed in-house and by suppliers, meet our high functional safety requirements.
The purpose of your work will be to provide support with methodology and competence to developers in the agile teams and to ARTPAE and project management in the usage of system safety processes and methods. You will define, monitor and evaluate suppliers' safety responsibilities and ensure that ARTPAE fulfils its safety responsibilities in each project.
The main tasks for you will be to:
* Uphold Volvo Cars' system safety processes and methods at ARTPAE.
* Develop and continuously update the ARTPAE system safety plan (PSSP).
* Support development and verification of the system safety work products - including participation in verification reviews.
* Support ARTPAE and project management in planning project safety activities - based on impact analysis.
* Act as the project system safety manager/functional safety manager in accordance to ISO 26262 in relation with suppliers.
* Assess suppliers' system safety work and system safety performance.
* Develop the required Safety Cases for ARTPAE.
You and your skills
We think you are a self-driven team player with high ambitions and both a sense of ownership and dedication to quality in everything you do. You take a structured approach to your work and have analytical skills that you have successfully applied to complex engineering tasks in the past. You collaborate well with your peers and are open to share your work and expertise. You have an understanding how to apply the requirements in the system, and have a guiding skills to be able to support different teams and solutions.
You are fluent in English and have a B.Sc. or M.Sc.degree within Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar. You have at least 2 years of working experience within system safety area have documented knowledge about electrical system development. We also think you are familiar with embedded SW/HW and functional safety standards, especially ISO 26262 or similar. If you have experience from automotive and have also worked with suppliers in the industry, that would be additional plus.
