Do you want to be part of a team contributing to the journey towards autonomous driving and reduced CO2 emissions in our future trucks and buses? If yes, keep on reading!
Our teams of enthusiastic and skilled colleagues are developing the future sustainable and autonomous transport solutions. We stand in front of challenging demands - where reducing the CO2 emissions are one of our most important objectives.
You will be a key player in designing the control system of Volvo's next generation of powertrains, including electrified drivelines and the propulsion control of our autonomous vehicles.
This is us, your new colleagues
The group Vehicle Functions within Powertrain Control contributes with solutions in longitudinal control of our future autonomous and electrified vehicles.
We develop all our transmission, engine and motion management software "in house", and our agile teams are setup in a cross functional way with system/function design, software implementation, calibration and verification of our features, all within the team's responsibility and control.
We believe teamwork and collaboration is the foundation for great products and an attractive workplace. It's also important to us that you enjoy your work and we have fun together!
Therefore, we work in an agile way where everyone is part of a sub team of 5-8 colleagues with complementary skills committed to a common purpose. Every team plans their work in 3 week sprints and delivers solutions together as a team. We mainly use graphical programing tools such as Simulink or ASCET so that we can focus on the products we develop.
Role description
As a System Engineer you will perform and lead the engineering activities to specify and design the Powertrain Management system. Your main responsibility is to design the propulsion control systems of our autonomous and hybrid vehicles that will enable electrification to reduce fuel consumption.
You will develop and design the interface solutions that meet system requirements from on-going and future projects and develop system solutions in close cooperation with your team and experts from different competence areas and parts of the Volvo organization.
You will be the bridge between Software and Hardware development and between Powertrain Engineering and Volvo Autonomous Solutions. You will give recommendation of complete powertrain solutions to ensure the right energy efficiency and commonality of the software architecture between our different applications. You will also be one of the main contacts for the product management teams and refine high level requests into the team backlogs.
Who are you?
To be successful in your new role we believe you have experience of embedded software design and an interest in Vehicle/Powertrain Control. Experience from software development within automotive industry and an understanding of energy efficiency of the complete powertrain and vehicle dynamics is also valuable in this position.
We believe you like to manage complex situations and drive results to accomplish your objectives. You also enjoy collaborating and communicate across the organization.
It is also required that you:
Have a M.Sc. in Automotive, Physics, Mechatronics, Automation or similar
Have previous knowledge from system engineering process (Requirement management, SFMEA, FTA, System design & analysis)
It is meritorious if you have:
C/CE driving license
What can we offer you?
We can offer you an exciting and global working environment which will give you valuable experience that will contribute to your future development within the Volvo Group.
