The section Strategy & Concept within the department Complete Powertrain Engineering (CPE) is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Corporation vehicles. The section consists of about 20 individuals working with systems engineering, concept development, function ownership, advanced engineering projects and CAE simulations (SIL and HIL test environments).
As a System Developer - Powertrain Controls & Calibration (PCC) your main task is to lead technical cross functional system solutions within PCC during the concept development phase. Example of System Development projects is development of a control system for next generation Volvo Engine Architecture - VEA engines including new features like Power pulse, Smart CO2, KERS and other alternative hybrid solutions. The system developer operates as a leader and leads the system solutions across necessary departments and in cooperation with other units. We are now heading towards an expanding phase with many highly interesting projects about to be kicked off. Therefore we are reinforcing our team with an additional system developer.
Main responsibilities
• To develop and deliver planned system solutions within PCC, in line with the business goals 2020, and thereby strengthen Volvo Car Corporations' competitiveness
• Challenge the organization and existing technology solutions
Required qualifications
• Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• 5-10 years of experience from powertrain development tasks
• Experience from all product development phases (advanced engineering, concept, industrialisation, quality, aftermarket)
• Good knowledge of powertrain (powertrain controls, engine, transmission, hybrid, powertrain installations)
• Good knowledge of the energy processes in combustion engines and hybrid powertrains
• Knowledge in energy consumption for propelling a vehicle
• Experience and good understanding of systems engineering
• Huge interest in cars and powertrains
• Drivers licence (B)

• Structured, with good analytical skills
• Capable of focusing on both daily issues and long term visions
