The role
As a Streaming Engineer at Viaplay, you will play an important role inworking to improve the quality and reliability of our streaming platform. Therole is wide and stretches from researching and developing future video- andstreaming functionality to daily operational tasks, like investigation ofproduction issues. Together with your team, you will work closely withdifferent stakeholders across Viaplay Group, as well as towards partners andexternal stakeholders.
These are some of the areas you can expect in therole:
Manage, optimize and develop our streaming platform to ensurehigh performance, stability and redundancy
Manage our encoding and monitoring solutions
Follow up on QoE statistics and investigate potential issues to findroot cause and make improvements
Optimize video delivery and follow up with our CDN partners
Work closely with Technical Operations when planning large liveevents to ensure flawless deliveries
Assist developers regarding video, audio- and streaming relatedproblems
What we're looking for
In the Streaming Experience team, we are a group consisting of streaming-and videoengineers, backend developers, a QA Engineer as well as product-and engineeringmanager. Together we have a passion for streaming and we also like to have fun, both in the office and after hours!
We believe that you have a good understanding of the streaming market andrelevant technologies. If you have previous experience of working withstreaming products - we would be really happy!
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that's why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you'll have at least some experience in the following:
A technical education background or equivalent work experience
Experience in working with streaming technologies e.g. video encoding,ABR packaging CDN, DRM etc.
Experience of working with cloud services
Thrive in sharing knowledge and experience with others
Solid problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and a great team player
