The arena
To develop genome editing methods and tools for animal and cellular model generation aligned with project needs. To analyze data generated by genome wide screening using genome editing tools. Lab-based, proposing experimental strategies, troubleshooting and making a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects in accordance with all AZ Corporate responsibility policies. The following skills are highly desirable:
Hands on genome editing tool based on custom designed nucleases (ZFN, TALEN and CRISPR /CAS based genome engineering)
Strong molecular biology skills including gDNA, PCR and RNA isolation and molecular cloning skills including recombineering
Experience with virus generation (lentivirus, AAV, adenovirus)
Extensive expertise in mammalian cell culture and the development of stable cell lines
Experience with Next Generation Sequencing analysis (e.g. RNA-Seq) preferred
Experience of custom designed nucleases embryo injection, genotyping and in vivo technologies
This individual should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and possess strong communication skills
The role

To interpret experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments.
To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature.
To be an effective team member in supporting Discovery Projects
To identify and solve problems associated with their experiments.
To achieve personal scientific visibility through project contributions, internal presentations and publications.
To conduct where appropriate in parallel more than one agreed area of work to agreed timelines.
Technical Lead/Supervisor
This role is a technical specialist in the Genome Editing area. A hands-on lab-based role at the forefront of the Genome Editing technology with a focus on effective delivery, troubleshooting and putting ideas into action. Provides support, supervision and coaching to scientists, ensuring that methods run efficiently and correctly, developing and guiding the set-up of new methodologies
Minimum experience
Ideally should have a Ph. D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with several years of relevant experience in drug discovery and/or early development or in a leading academic institution.
