General description of Supplier Quality Assurance department
The Supplier Quality Assurance department, belonging to Group Trucks Operations Purchasing, is driving the global supplier base towards premium automotive quality standards. The department is responsible to continuously improve the supplier base and the quality of purchased parts. The three main customers for the Supplier Quality Assurance department in Europe are Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks and Volvo Bus.
Job description
As Senior Software Supplier Quality Engineer (SW SQE) you will be an important member in the team, leading critical topics and challenging suppliers. In the projects you have a key role together with product development and purchasing to secure that suppliers deliver correct quality at the correct time.
As SW SQE you are responsible of our external suppliers, securing that they have and apply the correct processes to develop software with high quality. Most of the work is project based and the main goal is to secure the quality of each SW product. Before start of production the supplier is requested to show evidence to you, showing that they live up to our quality expectations. After that you are the one authorized to release/approve the SW product (SW PPAP) before use in serial production.
Our main tool is SW APQP, it is used to evaluate that relevant processes and routines are in place and in use at the supplier during the SW development project. The method is based on SPICE and expectation is that suppliers shall be meet SPICE level 3 requirements. Through regular follow up with the suppliers and through audits you monitor and support quality activities at suppliers. We challenge the suppliers to allow them to grow, improve and reach new levels.
Qualifications
You should have good understanding of development of software, an eye for details but also have a good understanding of the general situation in a project, being able to make risk assessments and focus on the right areas. You work in a structured and analytical way when solving problems and have a preventive and continuous improvement mind-set. You must be a good communicator and a multicultural team player, both internally Volvo but also towards supplier management team.
Relevant competence / experience
• Good SPICE and/or CMMI competence/experience
• Embedded Software devlopment
• Interaction with suppliers/customers
• Good English communication skills, both orally and in writing
Personality
• Strong leadership in problem solving situations
• Team player but also able to work independently
The job requires frequent travels
