Senior Simulation Engineer

ME Geometry Assurance has a global responsibility to prepare and lead the launch activities of new cars to secure that we reach the geometrical demands on the car. This means verifying systems and car complete (final demands), doing rootcause analysis and addressing issues to concerned people. We are working in true cross functional and global teams ME, R&D, SQM and with all our plants. The development of measuring technique and analysis tools is part of our global responsibility. The tasks for our group, Pilot Plant Measuring Technique & Analysis is to verifying systems and car complete (final demands), doing rootcause analysis and addressing issues to concerned people by doing physical or virtual analysis of product / process as well in projects as in running production.

We are now implementing and using more virtual analysis (FEM based) to do non-rigid analysis on sheet metal assemblies on body and on plastic exterior parts, eg bumpers.
The tasks for the Senior Simulation Engineer is to implement existing tools into new areas and to lead and be part of development of new simulation methodology. You will also do analysis in car projects and be part of program development teams. You will have access to measuring technicians and measuring equipment in all our plants to support you in the analysis and method verification. In this role you will be part of building up our virtual analysis team and you will work in true cross-functional teams from R&D to the plants. Inside Volvo you have all possibilities to develop in the direction you want; as technical specialist, project manager or line manager.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and be part of development of new simulation methodology
• Perform non-rigid analysis on sheet metal assemblies on body and on plastic exterior parts
• Validate simulation methods
• Be part of car program teams and support with simulation competence

Required qualifications

• You have a MSc in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• You have at least three years of experience from working as CAE Engineer
• Records with experiences from some areas of CAE calculation and analyses
• Experience from the automotive industry
• You should be familiar with some of the CAE tools e. g. ANSA, LS-Dyna or equivalent
• Driving license B
• Fluent in English both spoken and written
• Experience of geometry simulation tools, eg RDnT is meritorious
