Do you have expertise in Biomarker analysis and assay development in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases? Would you like to apply your expertise at a company that are following the science and turn ideas into life changing medicines? Then you might be the one we are looking for!

We are now recruiting a Senior Scientist, Translational Biomarkers to join the Translational Science (TS) department within the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVMD) therapeutic area at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden.

CVMD is one of the three main therapeutic research areas within Innovative Medicines and Early Development, AstraZeneca's small molecule biotech unit that deliver candidate drugs into late-stage clinical development. CVMD TS has the remit to bridge pre-clinical, early and late drug development by providing early target validation in human and by driving precision medicine approaches through biomarker research based on understanding of human diseases and access to human patient samples.

As a Senior Scientist in the Translational Biomarkers team you will be part of a creative and flexible team that investigates novel therapies for heart failure, diabetes, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and, chronic kidney disease by biomarker research.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be lab based and contribute to building the biomarker strategy in the projects to generate human target validation and precision medicine approaches. You will be responsible for delivering high quality and robust biomarker data package (target engagement, and proof-of mechanism) to support project progression across the CVMD project portfolio. This involves implementation of novel biomarker methods (e.g. ligand binding techniques, and / or mass spectrometry based approaches) using state of the art analytical techniques, biomarker analysis, evaluation and reporting biomarker data to the project teams.

The role requires interactive, effective communication providing clear data and interpretations to projects and contribution to the translational scientific strategy. You will make judgements about complex scientific information, developing innovative solutions and applying comprehensive cross-functional understanding.
