We are looking for a senior researcher to join us in developing knowledge and methods to address future cybersecurity challenges.
Most of our research is conducted within the context of mobility and transportation. This position is in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In the Mobility and Systems unit, we conduct applied research within sustainable transport and surrounding domains (vehicles, mobility services, etc.). In the ongoing transformation towards increased digitalization, automation, and electrification there are many unanswered questions. There is a need for exploration, understanding, and the building of new knowledge regarding complex organizational relations, processes, and technical aspects of systems of systems. To create solutions that are secure in our increasingly digitized society we need to understand the threats towards and weaknesses of digital systems, and conduct research that will help improve them.
About the position
We are looking for a senior researcher within the area of cybersecurity that will create, conduct, and lead research projects in close collaboration with other researchers at Mobility and Systems, and the rest of RISE. Our research is empirical, and we conduct it together with our industrial and public partners in order to understand future cybersecurity challenges, find new solutions, and observe their effects.
Our research project portfolio in cybersecurity is broad. We work with everything from automotive cybersecurity, self-learning systems for intrusion detection, how organizations can collaborate with external actors in vulnerability discovery, to how we can protect the privacy of digitally weak individuals. Our colleagues have backgrounds in information systems, AI, business modelling, organizational theory, law, philosophy and much more. The interdisciplinary nature of our teams inspires us towards new innovative projects and allows us to take on complex societal challenges.
Initially the candidate is expected to participate in research focused on intrusion detection, primarily in systems related to mobility and transportation.

We are looking for a senior researcher who holds a PhD degree within the field of cybersecurity, with some of the following characteristics:
- Broad understanding of current cybersecurity landscape
- Experience in intrusion detection systems
- Experience in automotive cybersecurity
- Experience in applying for research funding
- Good ability to plan your own work
- Good ability to work in teams
- Good ability to report results in writing and oral presentations
- Industrial experience in the field of cybersecurity

- Take project ideas from conception through putting together consortiums, writing, and submitting applications.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams aimed at solving complex societal problems.
