At Medicinal Chemistry in RIA, we focus on the delivery of both Small Molecules (SM) and New Modalities (NM) clinical drug candidates. AstraZeneca R&D, Gothenburg, Sweden seek to recruit a Senior Research Scientist, Physical & Analytical Chemistry, responsible for analytical research in the Therapeutic Area Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity (RIA).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
We expect you to support RIA 's portfolio projects and to develop the science around SM and NM analytics to be fit for future purpose. He/she provides expert advice in the characterization of SMs and NMs and collaborates effectively with colleagues to support projects.
* Provide optimal support of RIA 's drug discovery portfolio by applying state of the art NMR methods
* Deliver hands-on NMR characterization of both SMs and NMs
* Drive internal science in the field of NMR
* Efficient collaboration with team members and colleagues in Medicinal and Computational Chemistry, DMPK and Pharmaceutical Sciences
* Contribution to AZ 's internal and external visibility through publications, posters, conference presentations and participation in local/global AZ workstreams
Essential Requirements
We believe that you have a background within Analytical Chemistry combined with an excellent expertise in NMR spectroscopy, a passion for analytical research combined with scientific curiosity for small and large synthetic molecules. Furthermore, you have the ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries with a problem-solving attitude and delivery focus.
* PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline
* Excellent knowledge and experience in NMR spectroscopy
* In-depth, hands-on NMR expertise and state of the art knowledge of NMR methods
* Proven scientific track record
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Demonstrated expertise in peptide or oligonucleotide NMR preferred
