Volvo GTO in Köping is looking for our next production engineer. In our pursuit of becoming the best transmission factory in the world, we need world class employees. Production engineering towards Surface & Heat treatment consists of approximately ten skilled production engineers at different levels. We are now looking for our next team-member who is eager to join the Volvo Group continuous journey.
Who are we?
We view ourselves as the Center of Excellence within Surface & Heat Treatment and our area of responsibility is to prepare and industrialize new components and processes, refine existing components, maintain and if needed extend the installed capacity. We are also responsible for technical support and continuous improvements. An extensive part of our work is carried out in project form you will therefore be given the opportunity to learn and grow from different roles within the project. We look forward in meeting our next talented production engineer.
Main areas of responsibility
As a production engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating improvement activities together with cross-functional teams. You will drive improvements within the Volvo Production System.
You will develop methods and processes for our processes.
You will lead projects and activities
Technical assignments within production
Assignments within workplace design, value stream mapping according to LEAN-principles
Process optimization with internal specialists or external suppliers
Project based work with product- or industrialization projects including procurement.
Lead projects within continues improvement and new technology.
Global monitoring in technological development.
Personal profile and qualifications
For this position, following qualifications and skills are required:
Academic background within the area of material science technology & engineering.
A strong technical interest
Solid knowledge of heat & surface treatment of steel and alloys
Project Management experience
Good leadership abilities
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in both Swedish and English
Knowledge of machining and assembly is meritorious
Experience from laboratory work and quality assurance is meritorious.

In addition, as a production engineer, you serve as an important support function and it is crucial that you have a service-minded mindset who focus on the customer. A suitable candidate for the role has a structure way of working and delivers according to plan. Further, both curiosity, creativity and analytical mindset is valued in this position.
