Hitachi Energy is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel for the legal entity in Sweden to further strengthen Hitachi Energy's global legal team by providing legal advice to business units in Sweden, primarily for Hitachi Energy 's Grid Integration business unit with focus on high value complex tenders and projects in HVDC business (i.e. HVDC Interconnectors and offshore wind connections).
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will bring your legal know-how to diverse tasks, and ensure all contractual activities are executed in accordance with the relevant regulations and instructions as well as local statutory provisions. Reporting to the Head of Legal HVDC & PGQS Europe, the successful candidate will advise business units on wide range of legal and integrity topics.
The preferred working location for this role is Västerås, Sweden, with the possibility to work in hybrid model. The role may require some domestic and overseas travelling occasionally.

How you'll make an impact
Meeting with customers, partners and suppliers, negotiating contract terms (including framework agreements and partnership/consortium agreements) in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders, also to drive the development of different business models particularly with regard to high value complex tenders and projects.
Working as a trusted business partner.
Identifying legal issues of concern to the business and proactively developing effective legal strategies, mitigation actions and practical solutions in support of business activities.
Contributing to the preparation of tender submissions by in particular review of tender documents, identification of risks, drafting of deviations and participation in risk reviews relating to the respective project.
Collaboration with local and global legal as well as interdisciplinary teams.
Promoting dispute avoidance and managing disputes and litigations with internal and external stakeholders, including liaising, where necessary, with external law firms and experts.
Ensuring compliance with the applicable laws and regulations as well as internal processes, regulations and guidelines in various fields.
Contributing to the development of guidelines and directives and assisting with their implementation.
Supporting the implementation of the Code of Ethic and Business Conduct and assisting the resolution of integrity-related issues and other actions and assisting the resolution of integrity-related issues and other actions.
Training of Company employees in all legal and integrity matters.
Your Background
University Law Degree from Swedish university.
Extensive experience as a lawyer relating to grid system or major utilities construction/ engineering projects with a successful track record of handling complex international corporate and commercial transactions as well as significant claims and litigations.
Knowledge of governmental and commercial regulations and practices, working knowledge of FIDIC and offshore contracts.
Proven communication, drafting of contracts and negotiation skills; strong interpersonal skills including team spirit.
Committed, business-minded and solution oriented; strong decision-making capability as well as ability to influence at all levels.
Ability to travel.
Proficiency in Swedish and English; proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
