hela Sverige I woke up early this morning. Early like in really early. The rain was pouring outside and I have never seen a sky that grey before. With a freshly brewed in one hand and a forgotten umbrella in the other I started my journey to Lundby. What a lovely day I thought. The wind of change is here. This is when it all begins.
The biggest technology shift in decade within public transportation has begun. In a changing world with new customer requirements status quo is not an option. The wind of change is not only showing its best side in Volvo Groups birthplace Gothenburg. The wind of change is everywhere. New solutions and technologies are no longer an option.
Volvo Group wants to stay in the front seat and we are sure that your knowledge and interpersonal skills will be a key component in this journey.
This is what you are going to do
You, our hopefully soon to be colleague, will take the lead in driving the Filtration (air, oil, fuel) , Cooling systems, Oil filter housing and valves segments within Powertrain Base Engine, Fluid Management within Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing.
The filtration systems are THE strategic segment for VOLVO AB being a key product connecting us to our end customers. You will be responsible for the complete product palette, meaning both the direct material and the service part volumes combined.
You will have a regional purchasing responsibility as Commodity buyer for Valves focusing on areas such as optimizing the supplier base, securing competitive and quality secured agreements, developing best practice purchasing processes. As segment leader, you will also lead the same spirit with the rest of the team, responsible for the strategic steering of the rest of the segments: Filtration, Cooling systems, Oil filtration housing. In other words you will strengthen Volvo Groups competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier market. Since you are responsible of both direct and service market, your focus will not only be to develop and ensure implementation of a global purchasing strategy, you will work close with all brands as well.
This is us. You, me and our colleagues
Yesterday I asked my colleagues how they should describe Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing. All of them had something in common. They all believe high performance comes from having fun and the courage to take action. Doing the same thing as we did yesterday will not make much of a difference. And this is where you come into the picture. You as us believe in action, collaboration and clear communication. An important part for all of us is to interact and collaborate with other parts of the Volvo Group and represent purchasing in related key stakeholder forums.
Let's do some business together!
If you believe that success comes from daring to think new, challenging ourselves and helping each other out when doing business. Then you would be a great asset in our team.
We believe in you.

This probably describes you
Imagine yourself looking at a picture. Do you focus on the details or do you prefer to take a holistic view? Or are you one of those who can't choose between these two approaches? Do you rather combine your curiosity, analytical side and your sense of details in finding the best solution in every challenge?
What might seem like an impossible combination for some is the fuel that drives us at Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing. Nothing is impossible. Well isn't that a cliché, you might think. It surely is. But clichés exist for a reason.
Who are you?
Master of Science or Business Administration
Excellent spoken and written English (Additional languages are given merit)
Experience of working with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Leadership skills and ability to work in autonomous way
Project management knowledge and/or purchasing experience is required
International experience is meriting
That's a lot of requirements you might think. Well to be honest I didn't really match everything in the ad either when I started at Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing. But who can, right? Who can know it all, I mean. At Volvo Group we believe in hire for attitude and train for skills.
