Painted Body & Closures department is responsible for the development of body structures (platform and top-hat), doors, lids, door mechanisms and surface treatment systems for all Volvo cars. Development work is mainly conducted within the department and in close corporation with manufacturing, suppliers and external partners. Within this department the Principal Engineering group (93710) is a team of 6 persons working with CAE, knowledge based engineering, pre-development and concept development. We deliver new and improved technical solutions for car bodies and closure applications with focus on the pre-development phase. We now need to reinforce the group with a person working with crash simulation and technical concepts on a senior engineering level.
As a Crash CAE engineer you will join the principal engineering team and support the complete Painted Body & Closures department with mainly crash CAE tasks. You will work in close collaboration with technical experts, department engineering groups and in close cooperation with our attribute teams.
Most desired candidates are coming from safety department, possessing knowledge from calculations and have worked as CAE engineers, though all the rest of candidates are also very welcome to apply, if they are confident with the necessary tools and systems.
Main responsibilities
* Identify technical needs for new technical development
* Create conceptual A to B simulations in CAE
* Leading CAE studies in early phases within a cross functional team
* Analyse CAE results and make propose optimised concepts with the support from system responsible (SA) and CAD engineers
* Support the department in various program phases with CAE knowledge
Required qualifications
* University degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or equivalent with Product Development knowledge and other relevant area
* CAE design skills in cross-functional and cross-technical areas
* Skilled in ANSA, LS-Dyna
* Experience from working in early program phases is a merit
* Fluent in English, written and spoken, Swedish is a merit
* Driving license "B" is meritorious

You should have extensive networking skills and good teamwork abilities, meaning able to share the knowledge and information. At the same time you should be confident and able to work individually as well. Further, we need you to be interested in driving and implementing changes and be result oriented.
